Lexus flagship LS430 has made history by being the automotive model to record the fewest problems compared to its competitors within three years of purchase.
LS430 achieved a score of only 90 problems per 100 vehicles at three years ownership in the JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study, becoming the only car ever to score less than 100 in the benchmark study.
The JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study offers insight to consumers into the reliability and dependability of car brands and specific models as they approach the end of a typical warranty period.
All new Lexus vehicles come with a four-year warranty.
Lexus has topped the study for the eleventh year running and, once again, raised the benchmark for long-term vehicle quality among other luxury marques, as well as car manufacturers in general.
It continues to introduce vehicles based on dynamic new styling cues, with cutting-edge technology, luxury and unmatched build quality remaining cornerstones of its strength.
As well as the marque claiming once again the accolade for highest-quality car brand, three of its models topped their segment awards.
LS430 was the highest-ranked premium luxury car, followed by the SC430 in second place, RX300 topped the entry luxury SUV sector, while big-brother LX470 ranked highest premium luxury SUV.
The Lexus GS300/430 also achieved second-highest ranking in the mid-luxury sector.
While the Initial Quality Study, which measures problems experienced in the first 90 days of ownership, can be an indicator of how models will perform over time, our studies consistently show that long-term durability is a tremendously important factor to consumers, said Chance Parker, executive director of product and research analysis at JD Power and Associates.
As the number of problems owners experience with their vehicles increases, repurchase intent and the number of recommendations owners will make to others decreases.
The study also finds that long-term durability can have a significant impact on a vehicles retained value, he said.
